May Resident Event Ideas: Building Community & Increasing Attendance

This week Barbara and Marci are walking you through 12 resident event ideas that you can host this May or keep the party going and sprinkle them all throughout summer!

One event - three ways
chillax - a staycation for your residents
Encourage residents to take a moment out of their day and enjoy some rest and relaxation by stopping by your Chillax Staycation Event!

EVENT #1: go all out staycation
This chillax event hosts a little staycation for your residents. Think bath bombs, eye masks, stress balls & more!
EVENT #2: GRAB & GO care station
Display a variety of relaxing items in boxes or bowls, or step it up with this plastic cup goodie container. Because we all know… no matter how busy we are, there’s always time for a Starbucks stop. We played on that idea with this clever cup gift!
EVENT #3: go virtual chillaxation & meditation
This virtual event invites residents to take 20 to 30 seconds to calm their minds with relaxation and meditation reels. (Bonus! Get some engagement with residents on your social media!)

Clutch your pearls and hold your horses ladies and gents! It’s off to the races on May 4th for the big race. Host a watch party or a fancy hat bash, complete with refreshments.

5. COSMIC CINEMA
Invite residents to join the dark side, complete with cookies and a movie night.
This event can be done at any time!

6. TACOS & TEQUILA
Set up a traditional taco bar or a walking taco bar with sips and dips galore!
This event could also make for a fun marketing event where you invite prospects to come and tour the community. By hosting a “walking taco bar” you can set up various stations within the club room, in a model unit, and at amenity stops.
Note: Provide non-alcoholic mocktails as an alternative for those who might want it!

7. byot (bring your own teacher) appreciation
Encourage residents to bring their favorite teacher by your community for some spoiling. OR send goodies with the kiddos at your community to gift to teachers.
Our educators work tirelessly to help our kiddos, and they deserve some recognition and appreciation!

Help spread some more love in this world with a card bar craft station to help residents make beautiful cards for their loved ones.

May is National BBQ Month!
As the weather heats up, grills get fired up! Enjoy a little fun in the sun, complete with classic favorites, condiments, and drinks!

Set up selfie stations around your community and encourage residents and prospects to tag you on social so you can share the miles of smiles online!
This is a great way to get user-generated content from your residents.

11. poolside fitness
Host a fitness session by the pool, or better yet, in the pool! Cardio in the pool is a great low-impact activity for residents of all ages to enjoy.

12. hello honey cereal bar
Serve up classic favorites like Honey Nut Cheerios, Honey Bunches of Oats, and Honeycombs to bring spoonfuls of sunshine your resident’s way!
This is a great grab-n-go on a busy weekday!
