Branding Tips for Real Estate & Multi-Family

Hey Sprouters! Last time we talked about Lady Gaga and Branding, how to stand out from the competition, and make a lasting impression in your clients mind. (If you missed it you can catch up here). But I have one more lesson about Lady Gaga and it is a BIG one: DO NOT FORGET THE BASICS.

Here's what I mean by that. At the end of the day, Lady Gaga is a singer and an entertainer. You can love her, or you can hate her, but the second that woman steps on stage, she's putting on a show.

She has a gorgeous voice. Even if it's not your style, you can't deny her voice...and she's one heck of a performer. She has her own style and gives that to her audience in every performance. If Lady Gaga lost the basics, if all of a sudden she couldn't sing anymore, she couldn't perform, she wasn't showing up like Lady Gaga then people would walk away.

In fact, when they didn't like her music, some started to walk away. It just shows how what people become loyal to you for has got to always stay king. You've got to always stay focused on the basics. So for us, it means we have to simply deliver on our clients basic needs.

It doesn't matter how awesome your Instagram page is. It doesn't matter how great your Facebook Lives are. If your product or yourself as a brand does not deliver to what you say you're going to do, none of that matters. It doesn't matter if we're giving these awesome move in gifts, we have the best technology at our community. If I put in a maintenance request and it doesn't get taken care of in a timely manner, I'm out, mentally. I'm no longer loyal.

If I walk into the leasing office and every single time I walk in there, I feel like I'm a burden to you, at the end of the day, I can take my business elsewhere. If I'm working with you and your real estate agent and I feel like you're working a lot of other deals and I'm low on your priority, doesn't matter. Doesn't matter how great your stats are.

If I don't feel like you're delivering on the basics that I committed with you for, the loyalty is gone. Keep that in mind. All the other marketing tips are decoration, but without the basics, you have nothing!

We learned a lot from Lady Gaga, huh?  What we need to remember is everyone can rise and everyone can fall. But here are some key takeaways:

  • Standout as different, build your brand.

  • It's never too late to start building your brand...ever.

  • If you don't like how your brand is, redefine it.

  • Be really clear on the personality of your brand.

  • Keep good company.

  • And then last but not least, don't forget the basics

We work hard to build our communities. At our apartment communities, they are literal communities with living beings. Take care of them, nurture them. In real estate, our sphere of influence, our list, that is your community. Don't neglect it... We have to baby it. Show your little monsters in your industry some love, and they're going to take care of you in return.

Simply put, Lady Gaga delivers. We've learned some really good lessons from her abilities to brand herself and build her community.

Baby steps make a huge difference, Sprouters. So, for now, let’s all start by thinking and acting like Lady Gaga by cultivating your little monsters and building your personal brand.
