4 Virtual Events That Your Residents Will Love for Fall
Are you looking for ways to keep residents engaged this fall without spending a ton of money or having too many people in one location? Fall is typically the time to host fun festivals and large gatherings, but with social distancing rules in place, busy property managers have to find new ways to keep the fun alive at their apartment communities.
That’s why today we are sharing four resident events that won’t break the bank, can be done virtually and are still a ton of fun.
Bonus points: Resident events (even virtual ones) are a great time to remind residents of why they love living at your community and why they should continue to refer friends and family to live at your apartment community.
So we want to help you out!

Virtual Resident Event #1: Find The Pumpkin (Or Fall Item Of Your Choice)
It’s as simple as it sounds. Each week hide a pumpkin somewhere around your community.
The first resident to find it, take a picture with it and submit it…wins! To keep it interesting, pick different pumpkins of different sizes and colors.
To keep residents engaged, post clues on your social media throughout the week.
What’s great about this event is you can substitute any fall item for the scavenger hunt. A scarecrow or fake sunflower plant could be a lot of fun too!
This isn’t just fun for little ones. Everyone loves a scavenger hunt…even the big kids!

Virtual Resident event #2: Patio OR door Decorating Contest
This one is an oldie, but a goodie.
It doesn’t feel like its officially fall until all of the fall wreaths, pumpkins and scarecrows have come out of hiding.
Encourage residents to decorate their patios, doors, or windows with a fall theme.
Share the guidelines to enter the contest including the deadline to decorate their space. This might also be a good time to remind residents of things that are not approved for patios or outdoor decor.
Options for selecting a winner:
Have your team pick.
Ask a sister community to pick based off of photos.
Post photos on your social media and ask your residents to vote. (We love this option to drive engagement on your social platforms!)
Don’t forget to share the winner’s pictures on your social media.
Want to celebrate more than one winner? Give away prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place!

Virtual Resident Event #3: Baking Contest
This baking contest has the opportunity to be a lot of fun and also reminds residents to appreciate the awesome kitchens they have to whip up their tasty (or at least creative) treats.
Bring It To Life:
Post a picture of an item for your residents to bake. It can be a cake, cupcake or cookie. Find something that has a little fun element, but isn’t too crazy difficult.
Invite residents to bake their version of what you post.
Have them submit pictures of their creation.
Select the winner that got the closest to the inspiration picture.
Pro Tip: This event can be modified to be a DIY craft or even a recipe swap.

Virtual Resident event #4: Guess How Many
Bring it to Life:
Have a station set up with the “guess how many” flyer in a shadow box or frame & a jar full of candy corn (or any other candy).
Post a picture of your jar of candy on social media and ask residents to GUESS HOW MANY!
The resident that guesses the closest, wins!
Make sure and share the winner (and their prize) on social media to get more engagement every time you host an event.
