How To Gain Access To A Rogue Facebook or Instagram Page
Ever see a Facebook or Instagram page for your apartment community out in the wild and you have NO IDEA who created it or how to get access to it? Well, it’s not just spies in movies that go rogue, now it’s your social media pages - and we have a step-by-step guide to get control of the situation and your pages.
Now, before you proceed with these steps, exhaust your options if you think you may know someone with access to the page. In our experience, this happens a lot when an apartment community changes management. Our advice is to reach out to the previous management team with an email like the one below.
Hi there! We have recently taken over management for [APARTMENT NAME] and wanted to reach out to see if you could give us access to their existing Facebook page [INSERT LINK].
Please send admin access to [INSERT FACEBOOK EMAIL]. Feel free to follow the directions noted in this blog post: HERE.
If you have a business manager account that has access or ownership over the page, please remove that page from the business manager after you give us access. If you need directions you can find them HERE.
We appreciate all your help with this!
If the above email doesn’t work or you don’t even know who to reach out to - here is what you do next!
FILE A FACEBOOK DISPUTE
GAIN ACCESS TO AN EXISTING APARTMENT FACEBOOK PAGE
START BY GATHERING THE ITEMS
If you are doing this for multiple communities, then you need #1 and #2 for each community. The person that writes the letter can be the same, but the individual letters and documents need to be different.
FOR EXAMPLE AND PDF GUIDELINES - CLICK HERE
A Government-Issued Business Document for the business represented by the Page such as a Certificate of Formation, Articles of Incorporation, Local Business License or Utility Bill. (A W9 will not be accepted)
A PDF Letter with name and signature of person with authority over the business for Facebook (See letter templates below + see PDF above for example).
Include a scan of a Government-Issued Identification for the person who signed in the letter (see PDF above for example)
SUBMIT THE DOCUMENTS TO FACEBOOK
Select the Facebook page in question OR select your profile
Continue to fill out the form and then it should direct you to a chat with Facebook.
Once you get a representative, let them know of your issue and let them know you want to file a dispute to gain access to the page OR remove someone from the page if you already have access.
Attach all the documents noted above.
